Order "To-Go" Items with Your iPhone
If it isn't enough that you can use your iPhone as a cell phone , a pocket pc and an iPod, Apple is now looking at devising the iPhone to be used to order to-go items from most common stores. For instance, you might want to order your favorite cappuccino from the neighborhood coffee shop, Starbucks. You clamor for hot coffee but you are off to work and lining up on a Starbucks counter is not exactly the most thrilling thing for you to do. So, what you can do is to get your iPhone and wirelessly order your favorite to-go coffee. After which, you can leisurely drop by Starbucks and grab your hot cup of cappuccino. That definitely spells convenience for you!
.
Apple iPhone applied for a patent application (USPTO patent application #20070291710) for this bright idea last December 20, 2007. Wireless ordering would allow costumers to order to-go items using a PDA, cell phone or a media player. You can then do away with the massive discomfort of falling in long lines and waiting for your queue to order and to wait a couple of minutes more for your order to be prepared. With wireless order, you simply place your order and whenever your order is ready, your iPhone, cellphone or PDA would alert you and let you know that your order is ready to be picked up. That's an order system that is fast and totally hassle-free!
Wireless order is definitely convenience to costumers on the go. But aside from hassle-free ordering, storeowners can actually benefit from this system as well. The system can actually log orders. This would allow companies to monitor costumer habits and which products are doing well in the market. With such information at hand, store owners can study their market and improve on their products and services according to their needs and habits.
Aside from the convenience of wireless order, iPhone users can also wirelessly download their favorite music through iTunes in all Starbucks locations. Starbucks and Apple strengthen their partnership with yet another deal coming from the two companies
Who says that an iPhone would remain as an iPhone forever? What do you know, your iPhone can eventually be your own personal aide. With the patent application for wireless order system, it is a bold first step towards that vision.
